I can tell you don't read Russian news at all. A big concern for Russia is the fact that the muslim population is growing exponentially and will be 1/3rd muslin in about 10-20 years. The Orthodox church is losing members due to low Russian TFR and an increasing population going to secularism, while the Muslim population doesn't have those problems.

Honestly all the sabre rattling right now feels a lot like the threats of war with Iran back in the mid 2000s following the Iraq invasion: a lot of noise, a lot of sensationalism, no major risk of actually kicking off. Putin isn't going to invade, Ukraine isn't joining NATO now and every passing day makes it less likely the think tank brains try and sidestep the issue with a bilateral military alliance - and that would be a riot getting through Congress.

They're trying hard to force Russia into Ukraine to get that defensive war spin as Gehenna brought up (thus all the false flag nonsense), but Russia is like Iran in that the ones in charge are pragmatic and aren't going to oblige. Biden's advisors want a war they will have to pull the trigger, something that guaranteed infuriates them to no end.
