Barb has much more debt than Chris and also very little concern for the future. Chris is her personal piggy bank and once-in-awhile debt sponge (in that she can take out loans in Chris' name), so whenever she's scraping the bottom of her tugboat, she grabs Chris'. Chris, on the other hand, doesn't have the benefits that Barb does. In a given month, Chris knows what he needs to buy, how much money he has left, and he budgets accordingly.
He's not perfect at it, but regardless, I maintain what I said before: He's better at finances than Barb is.
