So what fuckery are they using to fine CyberNinjas $50k a day in order to punish them for stepping out of line with those nasty hatefacts that defy the saintly narrative? I figured they would be pulling the "we investigated ourselves and they're totes wrong source: trust us bro" thing, but the mention of them having to disband because of fines is an escalation I didn't expect. So, basically, a newspaper sued, wanted a $1,000 a day fine for every day they didn't get documents that were ruled as public information by the courts. A judge says "Na, that's too low, I'm going to order them fined $50,000 a day." I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but god damn does it stink of something. The judge says millions were raised for the review but I see nothing in the article that says Cyber Ninjas themselves have the money. Looks like both sides are pulling some really sleazy fuckery though here. The Cyber Ninjas lawyer is spewing more bull than expected and saying he wants to withdraw for lack of payment, and CN is bringing in out-of-state attorneys who need to be temporarily admitted for practice. That said, The Honorable John Hannah looks to be strangely vindictive with matters given he's ordered a fine fifty times what the petitioning party requested, which is... odd to say the least. Oh, and he's saying he'll personally fine people, too, which is really putting the gavel down on things.
That's ballsy as fuck to say in court. But the rest of the AP article is "muh Trump muh Republicans muh overturn" bullshit, so you can stop there.

All you have to do is point out that Biden somehow got more votes than any candidate in history, despite not actually running for president. The further left you are the more sputtering outrage you have at the mere questioning of the myth of Beloved Biden. It's a good political litmus test, of a sort -- and as you mention, more and more people are going "yeah that was kinda bullshit wasn't it?"
This is something similar to a purity spiral. You don't get any credit for a hot take that's the same damned hot take as the rest of the mob. Gotta be more terrified, more outraged, more indignant, or you don't get your tendies and asspats. But if you have a nice spicy hot take the rest of the mob is just gonna echo what you say in order to steal some of your credit -- the mob moves up to reach the people getting ahead of it. Ergo you have to keep getting out ahead.
In GamerGate people were calling this a Virtue Spiral, which is where you got stuff like the Magic the Gathering Nerds going from "The Quartering should just shut his mouth if he doesn't like camwhores exposing themselves to 13 year old boys while working for WoTC" to "We should murder The Quartering's wife's kitten and make them watch" in like, a week.
We have a different term for it now, I guess. Mass Formation Psychosis.
I don't think there's much further "out ahead" than the 6 gorgillion comparison, and like the "murder The Quartering's kitten" one of the ways these spirals end is when someone gets out ahead of the mob and says something so shocking the mob refuses to step up. Guessing our MSNPC Historian might have just hit the limit.
