This "too cool for the room" phil is so obnoxious, shits on everything in a spergtacular overdramatic way after saying how he's interested in it with this punchable smug smirk.
Smug Phil is worst Phil, and Desperate Phil is best Phil. Whenever we are between two arcs, the writers always get lazy and Phil enters this hyper-smug phase, riding high because of the money from the likes of R.E.T.A.R.D.E.D. et al.

Personally, I just stop following most of Phil's antics whenever he's smug like he's recently been. It's too boring watching a manchild acting like that and being rewarded by his enablers.

Watching his confusion at why people leave when he takes his completely unnecessary break after rambling for an hour and asking, 'For some reason we always have a giant dip in numbers when I take this break. I mean, where are you going? We're JUST about to start the game, you know?', is remarkable to see. It's honestly such a direct, clearly correlated bit of feedback and he doesn't stop to even consider if he should, idk, maybe not take that break anymore. Incredible.

Doubly so when you consider that he just demonstrated the other day with the GTA streams that he can intentionally prevent this break if he just uses the washroom before the stream starts.
He's fully aware that people leave during this break and understands that he can prevent that by not taking the break, but he's trying to pignosis his audience into accepting yet another lower standard and sitting through his indulgent and unnecessary break. If he doesn't want to lose these viewers, he could just not take the break. Like he did a few days ago.

Bringing this up a few days after he dropped the break for a rare occasion is one of those classic Phil moves where he needs to immediately do something hypocritical.

Turn on Phil's stream after maybe a week or 2 of ignoring him. I get this:

DSP saying the writing in Guardians of The Galaxy is so good for the previous scene he started legitimately tearing up... so he goes into clown mode crying. Can't help but think the $8 in tips are making him clown mode cry more than the scene did.

Was it some understandable scenario that a normal person would cry at? I remember being totally baffled when he wept while playing Mass Effect over some nonsense. He's so bizarre sometimes.

AM Gin tweets leads to trying to kiss Kojima's ass

Again with the "Sir" bullshit. Every time he tries to pretend like he hasn't said abhorrent shit about people he trots out the honorifics. That he's tried this with Kojima of all people

:story:
Phil is the bully from high school....who after everyone grows up and becomes more successful than him, he shows up out of nowhere trying to be buddy buddy with them.

I was actually expecting to see real emotion from Phil, but this is Phil...I should know better. However credit where credit is due the scene in that game seemed really good, but again Phil ruins it with clown mode....fuck off emotionless asshole.

I am finishing up the game at the moment, and that scene was IMO legit good but as you said Dave had to ruin it with his clowning shit up.

It's a fun game, combat isn't the best you can get. But it's not yet another open world with endless pointles collectables and ''optional'' side quests you have to grind for xp. If you just roll with it the combat is fun and the characters and plot is pretty nifty, hell the game is made by the Deus Ex guys yeah yeah I know Deus Ex died for this and that sucks.

But at least give it a try when the price drops.......Shilling over.

Phil doesn't like people leaving during his break, not does he like the idea of doing away with his break, so in true fashion of having to have it all, he bitches about people leaving instead of taking the logical step to prevent it.

This is why I don't think he'll save himself when his money dries up finally. Even when you remove ignorance from the equation, his spoiled nature takes over and prevents him from doing the smart thing anyway. Just like with his BMW telling him to change the oil, and he declined. Make him aware of things all you want, he'll still fuck his life up with his permanently shitty attitude.
Even in GotG, he frivolously spends money and ruins the chance of paying the characters’ debt.

Spending money he doesn’t have and not paying debts must be ingrained in his DNA by this point.
By this point? He went into debt in the early 2000s to play at fighting game tournaments that he wasn't dominating at in the least, and that's the just earliest documented example of him being stupid with money.

What's worse is that you clearly could have taken Young Phil aside, taught him about money management, and he would still end up where he is today. His problem isn't being dumb or ignorant, it's being unrelentingly stubborn, and he was trained to be that way by his mother.

I most likely will, with how the story seems. I just hate how Phil ruins every game he touches...and in this case he just can't be normal...he has to be a weirdo for the sake of "looking cool."

He does this with horror games too where he tries to come off unaffected by them...but you see him jump, and give a reaction.

This is why you should never really watch him play a game you like. He WILL make it look bad and/boring by simply being himself and as several people have said multiple times DSP is not worth getting legit mad about.

With this it's also worth saying for the umpteenth time one can't judge any game by watching Dave struggle through it. He can't grasp the most simple mechanics and he will ruin any story element.

On the whole horror game thing, I think we have documented it very well that him clowning about and talking more than usual is a cope to not look like he is affected by them.

It is one of the fascinating aspects of him. The need to look ''badass'' ,''to cool for school''. Pretending to so very immersed in games while also being to much of an Alpha Chad to care about games like some nerd.

I would be very interested if someone from his highschool ever did a sort of ''tell all'' just so we could confirm much of what we speculate about, as to why Dave is so.....well like Dave.

I decided to clip this. I'm still not exactly sure what's tear jerking about this scene, but I guess if I were a con man with a dwindling fan base I'd be prone to emotional outbursts too.

You're counting on the assumption that someone from Phil's high school would even bother remembering Phil, as he seems like the type of person you'd forget about after 20 years. And judging from Phil's internet "career", you'd be excused if you didn't remember him.
