Intimidation tactics have mixed success at best if started after someone has made up their minds. People get obstinate then.
Do they? Not everyone is like that. How many people have run to get a covid jab because of intimidation, threats and this "us vs them" divide cultivated? If anything that whole 2 years has shown us, it's that a lot of people can be feared and potentially bulled into doing what people want somewhat easily. If you have groups of people threatening to smash the town up if they don't get a verdict they want, not one year after they already did, wouldn't be surprised if people fold.

And the comments don't disappoint

Who are these strange creatures that think a joke about Asian food is a terrible offense to humanity but also somehow don't think a person should be allowed to defend themselves against others obviously trying to kill them?

This is a truly alien intellect we're dealing with here. It's the same feeling I get when I hear someone say your employer should be able to fire you for not getting the Covid vaccine, or that they're totally okay with giving their 9-year-old hormone treatment.

Politics are no longer a difference of opinion on the best way to achieve the same worthy goals. We've crossed into what is essentially a set of literally incompatible modes of thought and reasoning.

Of course not everyone, that is why it is -mixed- success.

They're creatures that take their opponent's words in the least charitable light possible, but anything nasty their pals say is "just a joak" (in Tumblr funnyman speak for your displeasure).
