Trump Enslavement Syndrome - Orange man good. /r/The_Donald and any public demonstration of rabid pro-Trump enthusiasm in spite of all reason.

I love watching people seething about Colin Powell, because they're usually confused about whether they should be mad about him lying us into a war against Iraq about complete bullshit, or whether they're fascist pigs angry he later told the truth about having been mistaken about his original lies.

Guess what, retards? He's already met the only dude in any position to judge him. Your opinion DOES NOT MATTER.

He gets a lot of credit for admitting up to his mistake.

In an alternate time line, Powell would taken the suggestions to run against Clinton as a Republican in 96' and perhaps we could have avoided this quarter century of fucking disaster.

We’re going to win so much that you’re going to be sick and tired. You’re going to say, ‘Please, please, Mr. President, we’re sick and tired of winning. Please let us have at least one loss. It’s no longer exciting to win.’ And I’m going to say, ‘No way, we’re going to keep winning, and I don’t care if you like it or not.’

The presentation they created for this is amazing:
this is the worst and best thing of all time

It’s…. It’s really shit. They’re trying to claim that Twitter followers will migrate in mass. Like every other Twitter competitor. They’re trying to claim Twitter followers will translate into subscribers for a sprawling media network - which really isn’t very likely

EDIT:

Let’s also get into the fact that they want to try and start being a web hosting service, and a direct competitor to every streaming group out there. This is absolutely retarded on several levels. They seem to think that investors will flock because “80 million Twitter followers!”

It doesn’t work that way. Firstly, consider how many of those accounts would actually pay for streaming services. Trump’s also toxic brand wise, most companies are not going to deal with them. Fox News already has advertiser problems on multiple shows, this is a lot harder to dodge. Fox Corp has its own branches that *might* sign a deal for streaming services for sports, but they’re already competing with ESPN and I think that the higher ups there won’t sign a deal. A lot of these also already have their own apps, own separate hosting agreements, and their own ad deals.

Rumble isn’t a viable YouTube competitor, Gab is direct competition to TRUTH, and it’s hard to claim you’re an inclusive “big tent” when you advertise saying “we won’t show woke content”. Newsmax and OAN are the only ones likely to jump in for subscription content.

Their hosting services are likely to get DDOS’d into the core of the earth or be so damn insecure that data breaches are extremely likely. The fact is that right now, the Fox Corporation is their likely biggest customer for an online subscription service… except they do much of that in house already, so why share profits?

Yeah, but the difference here is that nobody follows Biden on Twitter!

Remember how Parler tried to kickstart its growth through conservative following? Remember how that didn’t work out?

Also that slide gave me a chuckle, if anything it shows how little he understands Twitter followings.

EDIT: Oh yeah there’s the other slide where he flat out admits about 60% of people wouldn’t use a Trump backed media platform, whoops,

EDIT EDIT: To put this in perspective, Vimeo has about 60 million accounts. That’s not bad. But only 1 million actually pay for the premium video tools. Vimeo also only gets about 150 million users overall. It’s the largest competitor to YouTube by far.

Rumble exploded last year in users, mostly because they got banned for uploading crazy election bullshit and covid denial shit. Rumble has 32 million accounts, and I’d estimate at least about 10% of that is just YouTube mirrors. It’s a backup service like Vimeo.

YouTube reaches 2 billion people. That’s insane. It exploded in usage around 2014 and hasn’t looked back, around when it was picked up by Google and got to use its algorithms for its own video categorization. YouTube has global media reach. Only 30 million use it’s paid music or premium services. The rest of its money comes from advertising traffic.

Gab and Parler are absolute dwarves, without the advantage Facebook had over MySpace in terms of eventually muscling it’s way into market dominance. Gab has 4 million accounts but 100,000 active users, a decent community but very niche. Parler has its niche and really won’t grow much outside of that right now, but boasts a respectable user count in the range of 10 to 20 million. Problem is that with its absolutely awful security and run ins with other hosting services (apple and Google stores for phones), it’s basically dead. Parler is one of the most successful Twitter alternatives and it’s only 1/10th the size at best, with far fewer active users or non-users seeing advertisements. I don’t see them lasting another four or five years to be honest.

If I’m an investor, I want to see a return on my investments. How the hell is this going to make me money? I see no description of how outside of being publicly traded.

They seem to not get that at least a sizeable portion of Trump's followers while President were politicos, keeping tabs on him. Journo's, wanting to be able to report his latest diatribe on twitter. And finally, the delusional, internet addict Liberals and the like who were the reply guys. Always dunking on his tweets months after the fact. That, and shitposters, who enjoyed watching the Leader of the Free World spazzing out at 4 in the morning. And then of course, you have the Trump fans from across the world, who follow him.

The 80 million or so number is not at all indicative of any electoral base. Or at least one. Any attempt to make an unorganic twitter-like site is dead. This Trump astroturfing does nothing, but ensure failure as @Techpriest pointed out.
