Consumer Alert: Counterfeit products on the rise as supply chain problems persist
Experts say counterfeit products are being sold online, fueled in part by supply chain problems.
Not only are consumers being ripped out by knockoffs, but fake toys could be putting children in danger.
Michael Hanson works with Buy Safe America Coalition, which found in a recent study that U.S. retailers lose about $54 billion in sales each year from counterfeit products.
The supply chain problems are only going to increase the amount of American people purchasing fake products.
“People are going to be looking for certain goods,” Hanson says. “Criminals are going to know that, they’re going to produce these knockoffs. That’s going to be really harmful.”
Some of the products can be poorly made and have small parts that children can choke on. Others could even contain lead.
Amazon says it’s invested $700 million and hired more than 10,000 people to protect its stores from fraud and abuse.
An Amazon spokesperson wrote that: “This biased study was funded by large brick-and-mortar retailers who compete with online marketplaces and view small businesses who sell products online as a threat. While counterfeiting has always been and remains a problem in the global retail industry, fewer than .01% of products sold on Amazon last year received a counterfeit complaint from a customer.”
Chuck Bell, of Consumer Reports, says that online counterfeits are increasing.
He says shoppers need to read reviews carefully, research the seller and be away of very cheap prices.
“If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is,” Bell says.
Anyone who buys an item that is counterfeit can ask the third-party vendor to accept a return or complain to whatever platform they bought the item from.
There is also a government website for reporting counterfeit goods.

An interesting point, and one I've seen made before. One of the pillars of the globalist neoliberal order is a belief system in which tolerance is the only remaining virtue and intolerance is the only vice. The holocaust is the foundational story for this belief system, the instance of supreme intolerance that must never be repeated.
Every culture has some form of creation myth or ancestor story, and these stories usually recount heroic deeds by the forebears of the culture. The holocaust story doesn't do this, though - it recounts an atrocity. Rather than a positive story about people to emulate, it's a negative example of what should never happen again. The person I saw bring this up said that a culture that's founded on a negative example rather than a positive example is doomed to decay and collapse.
Can this kind of metaphysics actually predict reality? I don't know but things sure seem to be headed that way.

It's the same principle behind the "go woke go broke" mindset as well as the collapse of every Communist entity over time, which is that the core belief is completely negative and destructive. Marxist Critical Theory is based around 'deconstruction' which is well and good for tearing down existing structures but incapable of building new ones because the moment anything stabilizes the theory is primed to tear it down again.

Minor quibble here, that may actually be not so minor. The military situation was hilariously non-recoverable for Germany. The Hundred Days Offensive saw a total collapse of the lines as the Entente did the world's first large-scale, mechanized assault, ending with the complete shattering of the Hindenburg Line. There was absolutely nothing stopping a general advance into Germany, since the German forces had no food, materiel, or morale left with which to stop the Entente. Further, every co-belligerent of Germany's had already signed armistices, so the Entente was free to devote their full attentions to Germany. The terms were harsh, and unbelievably so. But it kept the Entente from invading Germany and terms from being arranged at Cologne instead of Compiegne.
