Anyways, in terms of unrealistic things nobody says, though there are exceptions to this, the shit in media where people give intros like it's them just reading their twitter bio, pronouns and all. I've never had a casual conversation in my fucking life where someone does that shit, even when encountering deranged hyperpolitical types. Granted, they tend to just call me all sorts of evil things instead of trying to even talk to me on a person to person level but my point here is even when they aren't doing that shit they aren't doing that shit. It's literally something I've only seen in fictional media and some extremely corporatized spaces where it's absolutely required.
 
Wild goose chase. I have never heard anyone say this outside of movies or TV shows.

But that doesn't mean it's never been said, and that thought depresses me.

I have used that one. It's usually in the context of explaining why something is futile with regard to a pending terrible outcome that's inevitable and time is the only factor that remains.
