Is it some kind of simplistic theory-of-mind going on, where a person is so thoroughly defined by whatever trait you focus on that all of their work could only be the product of that trait? Or is it about cleansing the historical record of positive references to bad people, so that everyone will know that only good people can do/make good things.

First off, "Party people" is something Strong Bad would say, so I approve it.

I don't care about his politics because he's dead. He can't hurt you or change his mind so why to care?
His books otherhand are pretty great reads to a right type kids. Full of all sort of horrors from mundane to magical, many kids find these fascinating experiences especially when paired with humorous and often unflattering observations about world and people. I still remember many parts of the Witches that I read as a kid. I remember the girl in the painting growing old in pictures until death, I remember the witches dressing in extremely uncomfortable clothes to hunt kids and I remember the main child being okey dying young at end. You don't get shit like that in every kids book.

Conservatives have to understand liberals because the minds of liberals determine everyone's future (in Monkey's Paw fashion), while the minds of conservatives only determines how slowly that future will come about, and which aspects thereof will be held back the longest. I wonder if this factor explains much of the difference. To use an analogy that Moviebob would love, why would Mario bother to understand the Goombas?
