The forums are filled with weeaboo spergs who are sooo desperate that they would love to have abusive, possessive and potentially violent psychopath of a girlfriend/boyfriend because they think that a yandere would worship their smelly 300 pound autistic asses and would never cheat on or leave them . Of course there is the occasional edgelord who brags about how yandere they are IRL and how kawaai and loving they are for being yandere.

Without looking too deep into this shit, calling yourself "yandere" is most likely just a new variation of "I read a book LOL I'M SUCH A NERD" posing we saw several years ago - only this is now some sort of anime-centred variety.

Maybe the reason people would want a yandere as a girlfriend is because they want someone who's dependent, rather than someone who dumps them at the sight of someone hotter.

As was stated above, no ACTUAL yandere would call themselves this, it's advertising you're a fucking psycho stalker who will violently hurt their lover if they cheat and kill any competition.
