I bought this to play killer but since survivor was easier with shorter ques I managed to reach rank 5 despite being shit at looping. Coulda gotten there a bit faster if I paid to win and bought Laurie. Then it turns out I got the cheevo for rank 5 back in Janutary.

If you decide to play killer then you'll be okay until you get to about rank 12-ish. That's when the shitlords come out.

Massive QOL perks to grab as Killer: Corrupt Intervention on Plague, Bamboozle and Pop Goes the Weasel on Clown, and BBQ & Chili for Leatherface. Myers has very strong and unique perks as well although not as essential to just slowing the game down.

There's a lot to know when it comes to looping and how to counter it and what things to look for and etc. Please don't spend money on a killer and think "Yep, this is the silver bullet for winning." Because the Nurse is in the base game and still top tier. Although, Freddy is #2 and after that is Spirit at #3 in killer ranks. But with Spirit, you really need to use headphones and understand how looping works. And Nurse is insanely difficult to use.

I bet bloodlust will be changed too with these map changes later on (which I'm fine with since many of these god loops will be countered soon).

If they do, it'll fuck over the 110% movement speed Killers.

I'm curious if Bamboozle will be as essential because it's good for the killer shack just to force them to throw down the pallet but now with a breakable wall who knows? It's still good for T-L walls and other obnoxious loops. Crotus Penn Asylum is still unchanged. And I'm willing to bet those two bad loop spots in the Saw map will remain.

Edit: they are reducing the number of pallets in Disturbed Ward. Hopefully this means the pallets in the main building (4 insanely safe pallets always spawn in the building).

Edit: I'll clean up the link in a bit but Conspiracy Theory: they're making all of these changes because of competition like Project Resistance and the Predator game coming out this month.
Don't worry, it will be back to business as usual once both games die.
Project Resistance is mediocre (and you need to buy a full priced game to play it) and The predator game will be an Epic Game Store exclusive on PC so it won't be serious competition (unless the game is amazing and comes to steam later).
After the fiasco that was Friday the 13th and the half dozen Asymmetrical games that poppped up ever since DBD came out of early access that were hyped and never heard of again, I have lost hope in any game of the genre becoming serious competition, and even if there was I doubt Behavior would get their shit together.

It's a shame because the premise is cool, they manage to get a bunch of licensed characters yet the gameplay is mediocre and frustrating.

I hate Disturbed Ward as a killer (Balanced Landing made it horrible if the RNG was in survivor favor). In the forums the survivors aren't happy with the changes as usual.

They're getting shut down on the forums more which is progress. Disturbed Ward, Ormond and Haddonfield are the big ones left. Disturbed Ward is getting a pallet reduction at least but the window vaults in the building have to be dealt with.

I also noticed Blood Lodge AKA Pallet Lodge (take a guess why it's called that) is missing on the list of re-worked maps.

Turns out the Red Forest map has a legit infinite at the main building. There's two open windows opposite each other. Will this get fixed by launch? Who knows?

All the PTB changes are set to go live on the 21st. Hopefully.

Right now the game is on sale for $8 and the DLC is half off. Like a schmuck, I bought Ghostface because he was $3 and I already had 2 of his perks. Luckily his prestige outfit also sucks so no reason to go down that road.

New update going live next Tuesday everyone expected it today but they sometimes delay it by another week because reasons.

A live Dev Q&A is happening this Thursday. No point in watching it live because the devs always cherry pick which questions they prefer and avoid major balance issues.

Fixing the maps is a good thing but the elephant in the room are SWF players.

They won't bother touching SWF players or even letting us now if we're playing against an SWF. Don't expect the devs to explain all the changes as well.

They kind of have to eventually. The problem is manifesting itself in the form of there being longer wait times when you play as Survivor and get to the red ranks. Because there's fewer Killer players at red ranks (gee, wonder why?) and sure they'll eventually get matched to a Killer who is several ranks below them and then that guy will go "Fuck this!" And leave.

They obviously know about it. That's why they hide the ability to see how many players are in a SWF or not. The most obvious thing would be nerfing SWF, they get a debuff of some kind (like action speed) per number of SWF players. The question is then: would that be enough to slow them down and will the shit lords be so petty that they will wait in lobbies until they're randomly matched up with their butt-buddies to avoid the penalty of playing SWF?

The first question I don't know but I can answer the second one and yes, the shit lords are petty enough to do that. These cocksuckers are petty enough to wait 2 minutes at the exit gate to tea-bag, they're petty enough to drag their slugged asses to a corner and wait 5+ minutes to die to deny a Killer their points, and they're petty enough to sometimes just hide the entire time and refuse to do gens.

I thought the devs implemented an increasing wait time for leaving lobbies? I remember getting hit with a pretty long one when I was trying to get into a lobby with a friend back when SWF wasn't even a thing.

I used to play a lot of this game, mostly as survivor (as I find killer far too stressful and frustrating) but I'd play a very nasty Nurse whenever I played killer since I just clicked well with the blink power (I personally used mint rag a few times to start then afterwards I just imagined the moving blink square in my head). Solo survivor for almost my entire playtime in fact, it's a mixed bag, sometimes you get good enough team mates but other times they're just outright braindead.
I'd gladly accept nerfs to SWF because at least I can rely on friends more than randoms, but I quit ages ago around the time Nurse got nerfed hard because I got burnt out playing solo survivor all the time, and suddenly the killer I enjoyed playing the most was way worse.
It's shocking how incompetent the devs are, but it's even more shocking how there have been multiple attempts at dethroning the game that have all failed, at any rate the only thing that'll kill the game is BHVR themselves.
It's sad, really.

Welcome to my rage blog. Respect a Nurse player, I never clicked with her and I don't like using headphones so Spirit is off limits for me.

The other games flopped because they were made by incompetent indie devs. Simple as that. Resident Evil Resistance is holding onto a decent number of 1-2K players on Steam. No idea how many are on the consoles. I assume Behavior is looking at that as the big threat to their monopoly and have been making balance changes in suit.

Sadly, it's a matter of when at this point, when the devs add Jason they win. Resistance might put up a fight but the instant they add the Sultan of Slaughter to their game they win the war. I'm sure they have the war chest that can afford him.

Friday 13th the Game is just such a sad story. It had so much potential but the devs got fucked lol.

I just naturally picked up on Nurse, everyone said she's this super hard wall of a killer but it all just clicked for me straight away (except for the thin fenced outside areas of Haddonfield, fuck those). Getting an insane blink where you land right on top of someone through walls and shit was so satisfying to pull off.
You're right that it's only a matter of time before the game gets Jason, and when that happens the game will get that deeply entrenched the only thing that'll kill it would be insane amounts of incompetence from the devs (which is something I could totally see happening).

I haven't played REsistance even though I have RE3, it looks alright but I still wonder why they won't just remake Outbreak instead.

Whenever I try to use Nurse (like when there's a daily) I almost always get a farm map. That's frustration #1. Frustration #2 is getting Survivors that know exactly how to play against her. They mainly just run back and fourth and try to bait you to do long blinks. Frustration #3 is getting stuck behind level geometry when trying to blink. And last but not least frustration #4 is Dead Hard. That is the closest thing to a hard counter for Nurse. Like how Saboteur used to be a hard counter to Trapper and flashlights are still mostly a hard counter to Hag and Wraith.

REsistance has issues with cheaters (the game doesn't have any anti-cheat system on Steam for whatever reason) and it's Peer-2-Peer and still has matchmaking issues as well.

I managed to waste 200 hours on this game and also get to red rank for killer(after getting to survivor red rank a while ago).
Killer required actual effort in addition to having to spend all my BPs to get new addons (I used wraith with speed addons, those eventually dried up so I made due with the quick break addon and Unrelenting + Spirit fury with a mori on top every time I saw something resembling a swef).

Yes I lost control of my life, but that's not a recent development.
At least I managed to avoid paying to win, I guess.
