alex's music has had a big impact on an entire scene, as well as myself. but its one that people like her and i were the first generation of. people like virt who did the music from shovel knight, as well as bogdan from rephlex records. people like her really are one in a million where these haters are one in ten. anything you guys wanna say for laffs wont change the positive influence she's had on people, and i think that will win out in the end. that is all i can say really.

As to the influence as Alexs work I cannot comment but unless you and Alex are over 50 years old and Japanese then you are not the first generation of the chip tune scene.
If we exclude it's origins in Japan in the 70s you still have bands like kraft work who introduced it to Europe and the 80s scene in which it influenced new wave acts like flock of seagulls, OMD and Joy division and you see performance artists like jean Micheal jarr and vangells make use of the medium.
By the 90s the rave and trance scene was remixing 8bit game tunes or atleast sampling them.
By the 2000s retro was cool again and people just assumed they were picking up something that had been forgotten.
If you ignore band like 8bit weapon (circa 2001) a horde of composers for the game industry and countless youtubers then I guess you guys lead this charge.

Now that things have (for now) settled, there was one particular issue left standing for me:

Imagos Softworks/Films has some points of criticism and not just cause of their SJW-placating collaborations and the whole "indie gaming scene" systemic cancer of the day.

They sought funding for a game through Kickstarter and reached near $200,000 for that project. Now, it is clear that all this interpersonal shit ate up a significant part of that but there is a sense of the business being very...haphazardly run. They offer up extra stuff to people to make them happy, they aren't carefully managed, etc. Not something out of character for Kickstarter business.

Therefore, the GoFundMe is clearly there because Imagos is without funds from any primary business (no game out, no money). Also, as far as I've seen, a backer for their promised game has to still buy this DSP spinoff thing on their own. So basically all the GoF-ers are backing them again, only they aren't getting any assurances about a DMCA happy-end of the situation. People are basically throwing more money at a bad situation in the hopes that they'll eventually get something out of it. All that has gotta get through Mauer making it to and through court, the unknown costs of it all, getting the game back, the game actually earning something so they can get back to the original backer investors years later. And then, finally, a theoretical class action years after that.

It's their money to waste as they please but I fully expect Imagos to be defunct before they deliver on the extent of their promises, even once Mauer gets dealt with.

After all this shit Imagos would be best to shut down and rebrand.
Even if this all ends well for them this game is always going to be famous for this shit storm and any new projects will be tainted by association.
Your always going to get snowflakes and weenz neg rating anything they do to create drama or just make a point of some nature.

Part of why there is no game generating extra revenue for them is because Alex DMCA'd the spinoff they had on Steam as an Early Access title, but of course they're on a crowdfunding site because there isn't a source of money for them to develop the game with, that's just the reality of trying to be a developer without the backing of a publisher, which is why indie devs often make games around their day job or live in abject poverty while they try to make their dream game. The way these crowdfunding sites are used most of the time is speculative preordering with no guarantee that the product will be what was initially pitched or that it will even be delivered at all.

im pretty good friends with don of imagos, and ive endlessly talked to him and alex throughout this entire ordeal for months, trying to help them come to a resolution, any resolution. this spiraled out of control in ways i feared it could, but what you might not know of alex is how much of a pioneer she is to the whole chiptune scene. whatever happens here, let her have a little dignity. theres more going on with alex than i could ever get into anywhere with anyone, but shes helped me to become a musician as well as person i always tried to be. what she writes isnt easy to play. you gotta have a strictness for that and that applies to who you are as a person, its also what this entire thing is about regardless of how you feel about it. because of her, i was able to play music written by one of my top favorite composers of all for starr mazer. ive had other musical colleagues do bad things and wind up in jail, or worse, far worse, and i see them through what happens. alex is no different.
