I think the Zodiac Remaster of 12 breathes a lot of sorely needed life into that game and totally changed my overall opinion on it.

I recommend FFX. The combat is a lot more fun than XII and the story seems actually planned out from start to finish instead of a miscarried mess.

Oof...be careful with 8. That one has a funky game mechanic to say the least. If you do get around to it just remember one thing : refine items...
