Try starting your search with !google. For example, !google kiwi farms

Late but this sounds like a problem on your end. I’ve used Searx quite a bit recently and I always get google & bing results in the first few entries.

I self host a searx in a datacenter and its good enough for me to solely use at home. The image and video search returns satisfactory results...
