I mean, it's not really wrong. Going with the original rule of cool idea instead of pretentiously trying to make it into something bigger than it...

It doesn't have to be boring or realistic - it just needs to have a decent consistency and not be full of nonsense and retcons.

Maybe it's because the show itself is trying too hard to be realistic and boring AF.
