In the Kurtzmanverse, obese people and cripples are allowed to join Starfleet so I doubt that they care about the hair style.

Starfleet is multicultural. Ro gets to wear her pagh earring, Worf gets to wear his Miss Universe sash, and Michael gets to wear her hair however...

I miss when Star Trek was written by actual people who had been in the military. That's part of what made the Starfleet of TOS so believable...
