Most MUDs would have a command like /me or just a colon or something a lot shorter than "atmos." It's probably some specific game.

Oh, it's far older than that. I don't even think a lot of people on the internet now were even born yet when "toon" started being a thing.

Not to um ackssally, but "Toon" for MMORPGs predated Toontown by a good number years. Toons separated the graphical ones from the MUDs.
