I dunno, it could be interpreted both ways.

He was just mocking how Chris used to react to fan art depicting Sonichu right around the time when he was first discovered.

I'm sure he does know about Chris but Sonichu isn't a particularly original idea or name no matter how much Chris thinks otherwise.
