I'm not disagreeing, which is why I pointed out that these guys got their hooks in the government specifically because it's an ongoing money hose that's far more reliable than relying exclusively on private sector endeavors. It's why Amazon, for example, didn't really stabilize until it started getting contracts with the feds for AWS.
I seriously doubt anyone on the right loves Thiel, other than for the public service he performed in helping Hulk Hogan legdrop Gawker into oblivion. It's nice that he supports right-wing candidates, but most of the right, at least, still understands these people are not to be trusted because they're loyal to their bank accounts, not any specific political team. Look how Elon can act when he gets on one of his autistic rages, and he probably executed one of the most consequential political acts of the last 20 years when he bought Twitter.
