I'm not even sure that it's fair to say that trans acceptance is going down. I personally would say that it's about the same as it ever was, but...

I think the issue is that if they actually admitted to wanting to be the opposite sex then I feel like more people would at least be sympathetic...

What are actual trans people? There's plenty of people around who've never been accepting of gays. Younger people have been brainwashed into it...
