As far as I know they just haven't done the work yet for linux, and there actually isn't any real reason.

What confuses me about steam is I can imagine 32 bit client to support 32 bit windows/Linux, but as of January 1 they no longer support 32 bit...

It's made by a small indie company, there are really no resources available to spare on a Steam client update.

Valve doesn't touch things that aren't broken until needed. The only reason they updated steam to a 64 bit client on windows is because windows 11...
