Spears are the right idea but a tool is only as good as it's user. I suggest recruiting some proper spear chuckers

Actually both Spears work really well. The usual Spear is the hard counter for the damn things, because they generally can't flee the missile...

Play on a different planet Spear or railcannon strike is the go-to.
