Yep, that's why I compared it to 3D/3rd person games like ninja gaiden sigma, monster hunter or devil may cry and not Super Meatboy and Hotline Miami.

For me, it's the bonfire mechanic. I remember hearing that the demo is a souls like but the main game is not. No idea if that's true.
