Every game company does this now since they figured out they can lie to gamers all they want, as long as they don't lie to shareholders. Ubisoft...

I think the likely answer is that CAPCOM expected this game to have mediocre sales, hence why there was no ad campaign beyond canned YouTuber LPs...
