A lot of that has to do with the time it was written as trek writer's later outputs shows. Trek as a universe outside of TOS is extremely 90s...

I agree, Deadfire has by far the worst story I've ever seen or heard of in a video game.
I did enjoy the first Pillars of Eternity and it's DLC...

The first Pillars of Eternity game is a classic for me. Deadfire is hit and miss, mostly miss. You can really feel the talent drain from 1 to 2.
