Unrelatedly and more on topic: I also find it hilarious that this is the same guy behind Tahm Kench, widely regarded to be the most broken, unfun thing added to League of Legends.

To add to this: they only became the new boogeyman after the brexit referendum. A lot of salty remainers believe Jeremy Corbyn (leader of the pro-EU labour party) is a putin ass-licker who is trying to destroy the EU. Tankie is an insult in the communist community against other communists who they feel do not understand the theory properly. Nazbol is an example of a group widely considered to be tankies.
