Heavy Gear is a pretty cool setting but the minis can run pretty high and a huge chunk of them are metal casting. Also if you want free PDFs...

Not really I'm a fan of the old school Robo-Tech stuff personally. Big Robots but not so stompy and full of weeboo shit.

Just pirate BT stuff, IWM isn't owned by CGL either and do really good metal models.

The Honorverse has a wargame which is pretty neat unfortunately its pretty hard to find.
