Could you do what they used to do with like Sega Genesis graphics? fill the drink's color in with a moasic or like dot pattern so it looks...

Just put in some rising animated dots, simulating the champagne bubbles instead of making it transparent. Edit: Ninja'd 30 mins ago, lol

I can only think of using dittering to make the champagne transparent on a gif, then mask it with the line art above it to give it a smoother edge
