From my understanding they were using older style mags with some sort of aftermarket baseplate and that's the sig fan boy cope. Weak mag springs...

Knowing how most police are trained, I'd bet officer issue, shit maintenance and bad mags. Maybe, most PDs just use an AR with a 16 inch barrel...
