Sega really tried too hard with the Genesis. The controller was ok but the hardware is mediocre with music sounding more like farting sounds.

On the plus side, it makes playing games on the Atari2600 easier

And of course the relative lack of buttons. 4 and a D-pad, same as the NES (which it was built to compete against.) Don't bring up the fight...
