I thought that upper lip was some kind of mutated clown nose at first glance.

The pregnant children one frightens me. And the Mettaton looks like a racist black caricature from the 30's.

I know nothing about the show, but those little changes in appearance between characters seem to make sense. It doesn't make description any less...
