ME3 had a space laser transport you to the Star Child's make-an-ending choice room.

I mean, season 1 ripped off the a bunch of ideas from Mass Effect, including the main looking antagonist, so it’s not unheard of.

Many of the writers did work on video games, though. Apparently they did alright there. But they seem to write like it's a World of Warcraft...

Every new Trek show has its detractors because it's not the old one, you just have to determine for yourself if it's good and then check back...
