The least retarded way to do it is to finish the pairs of tens. 9 + 1 + 4. Unfortunately it seems thats the one thing that never got taught lol.

These days 9+1+(5-1) and 10+4 probably count as two different ways. For the fourth- Convert to base 16 and then add 9+5 to get E.
