ER tried to fix the open world formula by rewarding you with unique stuff for completing side activities but it accidentally made everything worse...

I agree with the smithing stones stuff, I got to volcano manor and the mountain area and was able to miss the bell bearing that gives you smithing...

Holy shit this post reminded me about activating/using great runes. I just killed Malenia and am working on Farum Azula and haven't used this...
