Hypothesis: there is no central cabal puppeteering Biden, but competing interests with loose alliances of convenience, if even that much, & what Biden agrees to has increasingly become a tug of war between multiple would-be puppeteers.
I think that is the only explanation. If he was purely a creature of the glowniggers and state dept they'd have found a way around withdrawing imo or at least would have executed the withdrawal in a way that wasn't going to taint the public against any military action for another generation.
Or, tinfoil hat on, maybe that was the plan. Whatever is coming next the deep state needs the idea of foreign intervention poisoned so that there's no groundswell of support for intervention when.... say China goes after Taiwan? Maybe they've already been promised a free ride and this is how its ensured the public doesn't demand those new marine littoral regiments and the seventh fleet get plugged into the Strait
Really though I think it's more likely that there isn't a single puppet master. The glowies have one string, Jill has another, whatever mouldering remains of his brain holds another and some long-term aides probably have the last.
If there was one person, or a coherent group behind his actions, they'd make sense. None of this does.
Yeah Trump made the deal... that's it. Everything you see is fallout from Trump's decisions.
As for why Joe failed to make any changes to a plan that wasn't his which he could tell was doomed from the start? They have no coherent answer. Maybe some hand-wringing about how Joe trusted the plan because he's a trusting sorta guy. He's never accountable for anything even though he was Vice-President for half of this war and has been in charge for 7 months
Except this wasn't Trumps plan. If Trump had won the US would already be out and I guarantee the plan wasn't to have thousands of US civilians stranded behind what is effectively enemy lines, it wasn't to piss off the brits by endangering the same SAS guys who've been bleeding alongside socom (I can only imagine there's some angry/embarassed operators over that in particular).
I just watched the Pentagon briefing. Lots of "I haven't heard that" or "I'll get back to you on that" on the Kabul Airport. Especially infuriating was the "I don't know about that" regarding the bad blood between the 82nd and Paras.
When stories like this are making the round and our allies have lost confidence in the US there is nowhere Joe can go except OUT.
Apparently the 2 para and 82nd COs had a screaming match over the 82nd not wanting the paras venturing out of karzai. Afraid it'll breal the deal in the eyes of the talliban. Never mind that the bongs are picking up anyone and everyone they can get their hands on, they're not just getting Brits out. The wapo (?) correspondent was lifted out of a safe house by them for example.
