It never ceases to amaze me how the transhumanist crowd just glosses over the massive ethical concerns that come from making radical changes to the human body. There have been countless pieces of media over the years that attempt to grapple with these questions, and it's a basic tenet of the cyberpunk genre once you get past all the neon lights and incessant rain. Turning yourself into a cyborg, rewriting your DNA, or uploading/duplicating your consciousness: all would call into question the basic concepts of self and humanity.
And that's to say nothing of what it would take to get there. Like any new technology, there's no way to guarantee that any of these theorized "upgrades" will work the first time without issue, potentially crippling test subjects for life, if not outright killing them. How many bodies are acceptable losses so long as they bring about the Superior Future™?
But to Bob and others of the Church of the Singularity, none of that matters, because their holy god Science™ will finally deliver them from those damn jocks that always made fun of them and dated all the hot girls. The irony of Bobby's "Thinkers vs. Believers" tirades will never not be hilarious in that light.
If you ever needed more proof that Bob only cares about things through the lens of "durr shiny future," here it is. Renewable energy is grossly inefficient, produces power intermittently, is environmentally wasteful, and often fails to recoup the energy required to manufacture the panels/turbines before needing to be replaced. And that's to say nothing of all the waste they produce in the long term, with used fan blades piling up because they can't be easily recycled. Renewables are good for specific off-the-grid scenarios, but not much else.
And Bobby continues to show his naivete in that second tweet. I dunno what the fuck he means by "triple-secure," but nuclear power is on the whole not all that dangerous, especially with more modern reactor design. It would probably be even safer if more funding had actually been put towards it over the years, but Three Mile Island put the kibosh on that stateside, despite zero deaths and minimal radiation exposure to the community. And then Chernobyl happened, and so for the past 30+ years, anytime nuclear power comes up, people immediately jump to the worst-case scenario; Fukushima ten years ago didn't help matters either. But the most severe meltdowns occurred when safety concerns were ignored for decades, which suggests to me that overall nuclear is fairly safe on the whole, and better oversight could help avoid meltdown scenarios.
And we're already canceling out coal stateside as it is, with coal being on a steady decline since the start of the Obama years, mostly replaced by natural gas. Doesn't really matter on the whole if you're concerned about carbon emissions, however, since China's more than making up for it with all the coal plants they've been building. But hey, as long as it's not in your backyard, right?
In short, Bob is retarded as usual. Renewables will likely never manage to fulfill the needs of modern society, no matter how shiny and futuristic they look.

You forget the best/worst part; the fact that solar plants and turbines mulch all kinds of animals as they operate. They legit kill animals quite often, damaging the output and the population.
They also forget that Thorium reactors are even more safe, due to the fact that they can't go prompt critical without a neutron emitter like Plutonium.
It's almost like green energy exists, and only France of all nations is smart enough to use it.
You don't understand; Bob needs his social credit rating to increase. If it increases he might be able to hoverhand that Chinese lady he stalks.

Its honestly never too late to improve, if he put his mind to a lifestyle change he could absolutely make a significant change. Rigorous exercise is off the table until he loses some weight but that can be done purely through eating habits, and then he can begin lifting and running. Now I'm also one hundred percent certain Bobby will never do this because of who he is.
Improving his carreer and dating prospects is however nearly impossible. Even if he truly improved his attitude and outlook no respectable employer would ever hire him, all it takes is one google search and they throw his resume in the trash. His best hope is honestly just continuing the independent creator path hes chosen, even if its unlikely to ever go anywhere at this point. Dating he could probably land some bitch whos just as much of a desperate loser as he is but he would probably push them away with his endlessly negative energy and hyper critical nature.

The fact Bob believes that tradition is inherently bad and that any form of movement away from tradition is good says more about him than anyone else.
To pick a completely uncontroversial example, tradition tells us it's a good idea to wear a coat in the Arctic. If you want to flout that tradition and ”reshape ourselves and our world/civilisation to greater performance/potential”, be my guest.

They are largely correct in glossing over those concerns, and ethical concerns about technology in general are little more than witch doctors engaging in scaremongering to receive a paycheck so they can say that this or that particular iteration of the tech is kosher.

Generally I'd agree --certainly eating/living healthier is never not going to have positive effects, no matter who you are or what state you're in-- my point should have been his best years are far behind him so at this stage all a healthier lifestyle could do is prolong his misery.
Which would be great for us, but from Bob's perspective he might actually be better beetus-hamming himself into an early grave.

I initially identified the weird white meat as Pork, because the back bit looked a bit like the fatty layer a piece of pork would have. It didn't look like fish initially because of how it's cut and how the meat looks. If that is indeed some sort of fish, like Swordfish, then holy hell he is ruining it. Even if it was pork, he's still ruining it. It's already overcooked to shit and it's going to be drier than the Sahara desert.
Those roasts (or audaciously cut "thick steaks") are ribeye in a pig's eye. They akshually are Prime Rib - chippa's friend doesn't know meats. But even if they were ribeye, he's doing it wrong. I can barely see the salt, it's probably the wrong kind of salt (Pros use Kosher or coarse salt) and there's far too little pepper on it for anything. Maybe spergkid doesn't like a lot of seasoning, but come on. This is why black people make fun of white people for having bland, flavorless food and palates like a cow's backside.
I won't fault him for using pre-formed frozen burgers, because they might ackshually be OK, but he'd better have turned those front two and back-right one over right after he took that picture. Also he shouldn't be cooking fast-cooking burgers at the same time as the steaks/roasts, IMO.

Ethicists won't say anything about it(or will even argue FOR it) when push comes to shove, all while ranting about some nightmare scenario that is probably not even possible. See, for example, just about everything related to biotech and genetic engineering, human or otherwise.
