It only takes two seconds to take the developer credit at the end of the Replaced trailer (Sad Cat Studios) and compare it to the developer of The Last Night (Odd Tales) to see that they're different people, though the inspiration is obvious.

The dev guy is Tim Soret, and him and his team are still working on the project. They've had setbacks, had to change offices, and of course, the coof shutting down the world. But they're trucking along.
And for what its worth, his opinions haven't changed much, and he still voices them.

I guess no one is watching Woolie play disco elysium but in his last stream he added the twitch integration option and i feel like this lp went from ironically unwatchful to unironically painful to watch.
In ep 44 woolie meets has a conversation and one of the options is literally killing himself out of spite for the npc. They laugh for 6 minutes straight (calm down woolie, it wasnt THAT funny) and then he puts chat integration. Chat votes him to pick that option. Woolie gets a game over and laughs.
But then he reloads the save and finds out the npc isnt there. Turns out NPCs are only avaiable at right time but if you go past that time they wont leave the zone until you reload or switch zones (so they dont disappear while you're talking to them lol). Since woolie reloaded the save past 23:00, the npc is gone and he wasted a lot of time (in game and out) just for a joke game over. He then starts ranting about how that's stupid game mechanic and "shouldnt exist".

also in ep 46 you're talking about a female npc and one of the option is "I didnt rape her", which woolie also opens twitch integration and low key incentivizes people to vote for by shouting "That's the CONTENT, it's the will of the people!" This option does nothing but upset your partner npc.
Woolie: What was the point of that? That was no content.
Reggie: That was just making Kim mad.
Yes woolie. That's the point. You acted like an asshole just "to see what would happen" and the game said you're not funny.
At the start of this LP, woolie took it too seriously and after he realized the game is funny, he took it less seriously... and now it's like he doesnt care at all. Everything is either "the optimal" or "for content". Reception seems to grow more negative tho.

Nah, he wrote the whole script for it and did a bunch of production work too, like voice direction, marketing, etc. He even managed to get Yuzo Koshiro to compose a track for it somehow. As for the self-inserts I might've stretched that a bit but I'm 1000% sure he said the main characters are based on him and his wife or the hot red catsuit woman is supposed to be just like Leana or some shit.

It’s a real shame that not only did much better final fight/streets of rage spiritual successors came out around the same time as The Takeover but an actual Streets of Rage sequel came out shortly after too.
No reason to get that weird looking mess that is The Takeover now.
