They tried to spring last minute evidence they'd (illegally) failed to turn over and the judge told them not to, but they did it anyway. It might have actually helped the defense. They hadn't turned over these oxygen tests until yesterday. And then they whisked the expert out of the state as quickly as possible, but only after the defense got him to admit Floyd had 98% oxygen saturation. Which you don't die of asphyxiation with.
That can pretty easily be argued as a Brady violation. Whether the judge will have any of it, I don't know.

...jesus fuck were they TRYING TO THROW THE CASE AFTER ALL

Holy shit is this as big as I think it is?

Adolf Hitler meets George Floyd

Has the defense addressed that fact that Floyd wouldn't have lasted even half as long as he did if Chauvin was actually asphyxiating him? For that matter, how could Floyd be talking if he couldn't breathe? He would have passed out after a couple minutes instead of writhing around on the ground for almost 10, and you can't vocalize unless you have air in your lungs.
Just on a logical level, any force high enough to cause strangling/choking asphyxiation wouldn't take over 5 minutes to do the job (which is about how long Floyd was awake for the 8 minutes and 45-49 seconds), assuming the force wasn't fluctuating between such a force and well below it. It looks as though Chauvin's position is quite consistent throughout all of the footage - at least, it never looks like he increases the amount of weight he's putting on Floyd past the initial restraint.
For real, I've got a feeling that this was a trap that Nelson (maybe unwittingly) set up, but prosecution jumped into head first. They didn't testify he had 98% blood saturation after minutes of supersaturating his blood in the ambulance with pure oxygen and minutes of failed resuscitation attempts.

No, they just simply have the persecution's star witness, under oath, testify that Floyd's blood saturation was 98% without any context to frame it. So Nelson can literally go, "Look, they're trying to say that Floyd died because he was asphyxiated. But their lead medical witness testified himself that the blood was completely saturated with oxygen. 98%, you heard him say that. How could he die from a lack of oxygen when his blood was saturated with oxygen?" If he does this in his closing arguments, the prosecution can do NOTHING about it.
I could be totally off here, but there could be a difference between asphyxiating because there's not enough oxygen in your blood and asphyxiating because there's not enough oxygen going to your brain.

The former automatically means the latter, but the converse doesn't necessarily hold.

If your hearts gives out, as the medical examiner who delivered the autopsy said it did, then it's not pumping blood, oxygenated or otherwise, around your body.

This would also line up with the examiner's statement that, in his opinion, Chauvin's knee during the restraint would not have blocked off Floyd's airways.

Tobin said something about an arterial blood draw that they did while Floyd was at “Hennefim County” which I assume is the Hennepin hospital. It isn’t obvious to me how that would be relevant to CO intake before the resuscitation efforts, though?
All the papers I’ve found that discuss asphyxia and artial blood O2 concentration are behind subscriptions. *sigh*
Gimme some links, then. I've got a lot of subscriptions.

Just saw a news report on channel 4. Still biased and even speaking the implied threats of BLM on air. Shame I live in a bubble where everyone knows flyd dindu nuffin and will justify the destruction of entire towns with “that’s how changes are made”.

I'm a total layperson when it comes to trials, after closing next week how long do juries deliberate for? Do they have an indefinite amount of time or is there a deadline?
The Jury can deliberate for long as they need. But if they all cannot get to a uniform consensus on Guilty or Not Guilty then they would tell the Judge they cant render a verdict then it would be a mistrial.

expecting the jury to think about the oxygen saturation as anything other than "the spud told me it was a good thing, george clearly dindu" is :optimistic:

I will SNEED so hard if this case gets mistrialed due to the prosecution being gay. Imagine how the media will be forced to acknowledge that their narrative was wrong.
No one will force the media to do anything, short of Chauvin filing lawsuits.

Just... this is an absolute fucking embarrassment. Start to finish, this entire fucking saga, and it lands squarely on Ellison's head with his behavior during both the riots and this court case.

How the fuck does that cretin collect a paycheck.
