Under pharmaceutical classes, Estradiol is listed as an "Estrogen Receptor Agonist" and Spironolactone as an "Aldosterone Antagonist". While both of these medications are typically prescribed to trans women to induce hormone replacement, they also have uses in
combating problems associated with Type 1 Diabetes. Insulin resistance causes an influx of aldosterone (an adrenal hormone), which raises blood pressure and lowers potassium levels. Consequently,
aldosterone antagonists such as Spironolactone counteract this affect and lower blood pressure, on top of keeping salt, water, and potassium levels in the body in check.
Estradiol, which remains true to its drug classification, aids in the reception of estrogen. Women with Type 1 Diabetes are more prone to
difficulties during puberty, including
pubertal delay. As we have seen with IDCP's vast array of nudes over the past four years, she began with a very androgynous body; small breasts, slim hips, etc. However, once the estradiol was introduced to her body, it would have ignited puberty. Breast growth and bone formation (especially the widening of the pelvis) are key characteristics of female puberty. If IDCP truly was AMAB and started HRT after puberty, her hips would not be as wide - the male pelvis is much more slight in build and estrogen cannot reverse the affects that testosterone has on bone structure.
