Pretty much every person I've encountered who is obsessively into metal is usually a socially-retarded, dangerhaired ugly loser, probably a virgin/incel by the age of 30, borderline autistic - with plenty of crossover between metal fagdom and other degenerate subcultures like Brony/anime/SJW/pol/sexual deviant fandom as well.
The majority of metal isn't even "deep", it's fake, gay, and shit - it's for idiots and socially-retarded wrist-silting edgelords who confuse "dark" with "deep" (which would be like saying a low-budget slasher movie "Friday the 13th Part 99" is "deep"). It's only "deep" if you're Sigmund Freud or someone using it as a case-study into abnormal psychology, not as "music" (and calling it "music" to begin with - when most of it sounds more like a German Shepherd having a miscarriage - is being generous). The same goes for all of the silly subgenres and spin-off genres (hardcore, goth, grindcore, whatever-core) as well.
You don't see this with any real genre of music like jazz, classical, opera, choral and so forth, or with decent-quality music in pretty much any other genre - just with metal and the trailer trash, untermensch, wrist-slitting pussies and betas who religiously listen to it as a substitute for consentually making love to a woman they aren't related to.
. Not post-grunge though that shit is fucking horrible.
