‘Powerpuff Girls’ Live-Action Series - Officially Dead

Has anyone brought up Miss Bellum getting Race Changed?

She was a white Redhead..and those always get blacked. So Mayor will have gone down in disgrace (he is a white male) and she replaced him just to have YASSS QUEEN SLAYYYY POC LADY MAAAAYOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! tm.
She was completely absent in the latest reboot (because strong women are ILLEGAL if they're attractive) so they probably don't even know she exists. But if she's in this, she will 1000000% be a nigress and probably a monkey-lookin' one, too.

I'm looking forward to seeing how much of a trainwreck this will be. I just hope they don't try to add Dexter or other CCs to bolster ratings when they are inevitably shit.

Every hopeful writer now is like "they ain't ready for what I got, nobody got what I got" and then inevitably they just end up writing this "x but grown up and dark/sarcastic" garbage.

At this rate, the Japanese remake Powerpuff Girls Z will look like a masterpiece compared to the upcoming live-action disaster.

The 2016 Reboot already made that remake look infinitely better, despite it being a pseudo magical girl knockoff.

With the CW doing this shitshow, it has not only elevated the PPGZ Anime but it even helps the 2016 Reboot look less shit in comparison when you consider how bland and uninteresting it was during it's run time.

We've reached a new low.

If I was an established script writer, I'd have switched professions by now or probably moved into self publishing or some shit like that.

You can't make offensive jokes, you can't present anything new and inventive if it could possibly offend somebody, you have to write for established IPs that have been rebooted to death, and you absolutely HAVE to push this woke agenda or you don't get work.

Even worse, you have younger writers coming up that have to follow all these same rules but are SUPER STOKED about working within this limiting environment. So its not even like I can give tips to younger talents and help them out because, fuck it, why bother? They either aren't going to listen or the system is going to pound all of that good advice out of them.

I used to think that I could never be creative enough to be a writer, but fuck it, in this day and age, I guarantee I could come up with something that is more toyetic, marketable, and inventive than most everything else being shoved out these days.

Indeed and I got a bad feeling then they might outdone themselves by doing lower than the upcoming live-action movie like a second live-action movie.

They'll probably hire Tom Kenny again to play him, massively overpay him Spongebob level, and then hire dirt cheap women actors to replace the originals, again. To show how much they respeck the whammens.
Tom Kenny was the Mayor, Tom Kane was Utonium. Literally the most understandable mistake ever though.

Its always sad when a previously awful revisit of an old IP becomes better in hindsight when the new one is even worse. I call that the "Prequel Trilogy Theorem". Less than a decade ago, we were all like "Fuck the Prequels!" but after living through the Disney sequels, we are all like "OK, we all owe George Lucas an apology, don't we?".

There is no originality anymore. Everything is a reboot of a reboot of sequel of a prequel of a spinoff of an homage.

We live in the age of the fanboy who've all grown up writing fan fics, so it was going to be a crapshoot. Although something that's by fans, for fans is something to strive for, there's a monkey's paw aspect to it and I'm sure that's what we got. You could count on one hand the number of movies/shows that were done by fans, for fans and were treated with respect at the same time.

At least the prequels were watchable. I didn't leave the theater feeling I'd been cheated out of my money. I sat my ass in a theater seat, ate some popcorn, watched some disposable entertainment. I never really grasped the utter hatred for the prequels even if they were obviously not as good as the first three and had a lot of George Lucas being a self-indulgent choad. I mean he managed to make both Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman seem wooden and lifeless with his bad direction. But still, you got to sit there like a moron watching space shit blow up. I had an okay time.

The Prequels were bad...but I never felt like they lied to me about what they were. George made the movies he wanted to make and I was like "yeah whatever' towards them.

The Sequels though, I felt dirty afterwards. Like I actually did get my hopes up and by the time it was said and done, I felt like I had been tricked and used.

I didn't feel bad about paying to see the Prequels. The Sequels, I legit felt bad for supporting them with my money as I felt like I paid for my own abuse.

The prequels also took advantage of the new technology of the time (regardless of how you feel about Jar Jar Binks), and if nothing else, you could at least say they expanded on the universe in ways that didn't feel out-of-place in Star Wars while acting as a prequel to the original Star Wars.

Couldn't tell you what was new, specifically, about Nu-Wars or what new technology they were showing off. Only saw The Force Awakens in theaters, but I left that theater feeling like something was very wrong, and that it didn't tread new ground due to repeating the same exact beats as an already-established movie (A New Hope).

You just know this live action show is going to be creepy as shit. Since it's a CW show they WILL add relationship drama and sex.

I don't want to fucking know which Powerpuff Girl lost their virginity first Hollywood. :cryblood:

Jesus Christ, just let a fun little cartoon that had a good run rest in peace and be remembered fondly.

The Prequels at the very very least had a planned beginning, middle and end. It told a cohesive story. The Sequels were a by-the-numbers safe follow-up, followed by an off-the-rails “subverting expectations” that threw away everything the first one set up, and finally another film that threw away everything the second one set up in a desperate attempt to course correct and tell too many stories at once to reconnect to the first.

And yes, the live action PPG is going to be a bunch of dumb relationship drama with at least one being a lesbian, though hopefully this time the romantic partner won’t be a OC stand-in for one of the writers like in the reboot.

I will be utterly optimistic they'll hire the "CW" writers who wrote "Riverdale", make Buttercup have a split personality named "Bellum" and the other girls use their Lazer beams to boil the Professor's Jacuzzi or boil the teapot and pour boiling water on him or in the Jacuzzi scenario, blindfold and handcuff him to something.

This is literally in the early episode of the first season of Riverdale.
Edit: forgot a few words.
