In my opinion, any state could hypothetically secede and just dare the federal government to send in an army. That won't end well of course, but Texas seceding could set off a domino effect that results in it actually becoming a "well, better to just let them go do whatever" situation.

But most people will say "lol, secession isn't legal". Why? Uhhhhh something something civil war.
You'd think that Congress would have gotten an amendment saying "lol can't seceed" during or after the civil war, but they didn't. There was just a supreme court case that said "lol confederacy lost", and little else.

the funny thing about Texas V White, which is the postwar decision where they decided secession was illegal is that it couldn’t find justification in the consitution, and so had to cite the articles of confederation.
The decision was also a bit tainted because any other outcome would have meant that the states which made up the former confederacy would have had to assume all the CSA’s debt, which was the actual cause of action in question that lead the court to rule on whether the states had ever actually legally seceded

I would hope that the National Guard opening fire on unarmed citizens would be a bad look to most Americans, but given how both sides of the aisle in that Parliament of Whores and the bluecheck tools are saying these are "terrorists" that need to be cracked down on, I'm not holding my breath.

If the national guard is retarded enought to create martyrs by shooting at the protestors then might as well declare civil war at once

My main question in all of this is what will happen with republican party in coming years? Cause this event can't be good optics for them and I don't think several trump supporters would even back them anymore.
