New details have emerged regarding a 21-year-old Instagram model who died in January after falling off a cliff in Australia.

The BBC reported this week that the model, U.K. native Madalyn Davis, perished shortly after climbing over a fence to reach a "selfie hotspot" in Diamond Bay.

Coroners have since announced that Davis, who fell 262 feet and was later found 55 feet below the ocean surface, was "impaired" during the incident.

Nottinghamshire assistant coroner Gordon Clow stated that alcohol and trace amounts of drugs "impaired Ms Davis' ability to make decisions and balance."

Davis left a house party to take a selfie on the cliff at sunrise and is said to have had double the legal driving alcohol limit for the U.K. in her blood, according to a toxicology report. The report also found traces of amphetamines, cocaine, ketamine, and MDMA.

"There is no safe way to consume alcohol and drugs, her death was at a beauty spot which people seek to enjoy, it will doubtless not be the last," Clow said. "It was a very great tragedy of someone trying to live their life to the full."

Trolls online were reportedly mocking Davis and the circumstances surrounding her death. Her mother, Rebecca Smith, according to Heavy, begged them on Instagram to stop posting negative comments. “My daughter was not self-obsessed, she was a wonderful beautiful person that made a mistake. How can you write such things? She has a little sister and brother who be reading this,” she reportedly wrote.

Davis was traveling the world at the time and sharing her experience with her more than 17,000 followers.

Unfortunately, Davis is just one of a growingnumber of people to die while attempting to take selfies.
