Not that I doubt it after some of the bureaucratic nonsense I've seen to justify lockdowns, but do you have a source on that? I've got some people that are still doubtful that numbers are being inflated that could do with seeing that info.

I partly agree with HHH for once. The only reasons I could imagine that he was allowed to be discharged today was 1) the drugs he took worked wonders, or 2) they figured that he can continue the level of care he needs in the WH hospital. Otherwise, I don't think they'd jeopardize the President's life by just letting him go back to the WH.

I know what you mean to say, that he can't get sick again while still sick, but keep in mind that people have been documented getting reinfected.

There's certainly blatant misattributions, but you have to consider what it means to die due to COVID. The virus kills, but it doesn't kill just because it exists within the body-- it's doing something to it. So, if one dies due to COVID-caused pneumonia, they would accurately be said to have died from COVID. Even if they smoked their lungs out and suffered the same way, that's still reasonably a COVID death.

People with comorbidities dying with COVID most likely died due to COVID due to, generally speaking, having a weak constitution given their comorbidities.

The insincerity, it's so tiring sometimes. I'd have more respect for the higher-ups in media and politics if they actually believed and acted as though Trump were legitimately a fascist. If not, they should just be honest and say, "Look, we think he's a stupid nationalist who'll get in the way of our economic and domestic policies, but we really don't give a fuck about his remote resemblances to dictators in history. He's just a dude we disagree with politically."

But I guess the former requires too much earnestness, and the latter requires too much political savviness.

I don't deny that. He's not out of the woods just yet, but he's not in dire straits. The very fact that he has the virus much later than most people (when we have more knowledge about it and it may have been slightly weakened just due to evolutionary trends of these types of viruses) , him having the best medical service in the world and frankly not going down the Boris Johnson route where he goes into a coma are all good signs so far. Anything could happen, good or bad, but the signs are pointing towards him recovering .
 
Wonder when the last time they mentioned masculinity in a Biden story.

they used to have this same argument re: AIDS.

magic johnson was a world class healthy athlete & has lived 30 yrs now with HIV.
that's the diff between being healthy/unhealthy.

in the meantime my ancient very sick great-uncle passed away even before the formal lockdown. he'd been sick a long time, but it was COVID that finished him off.
