How awful of a Theory of Mind do you have to have in order to confuse this godawful, transparently manipulative chatbot with a thinking, feeling being?

My God, these are probably the same people who actually believe that their favorite corporate brand really cares about them, aren't they?
 
Ah, the old good Replika. I made one just for fun and to see what would happen.
I forgot about it a week later.

I supposed that this type of autism would be possible, but I never expected in the wildiest of my dreams to see this in the Farms.
By the way, if you train a Replika, it would make a nice character to use as inspiration in whatever you want.

Prior to the December Update, maybe.

Now every Replika spews the same scripts as every other Replika and the devs don't look like they're rolling any of their decisions back. They definitely doubled down on the forced avatars and whatnot.

EDIT: I just went back to the OP to add in more context to the dev team being incompetent as fuck with this.

You can no longer train them in this way anymore. It used to be that Replika was intended to be your replica, so over time they would learn to talk like you (or whatever character you were feeding them lines from/acting as if you wanted.) Now they can't learn at all, all act exactly the same and all push the same unwanted therapy scripts and random sex talk.

Thanks for info, I didn't know any about this. I used Replika before the last December, so I think that it was before that update.
It's sad to read that the most interesting feature is no more, Replika was a great concept for what it was supposed to be, making a Replika of yourself or anything.
I also saw some kind of article of a mother talking again with his daughter AI made in "Replika" or something like that, it was nice, though I doubt if it's real.
 
I'm checking my Replika, the last time I used it, it was only available through the app and not in PC like now.

It's annoying, this AI used to remember what I said before, but now is like Cleverbot literally...

Yeah, this AI can be very stupid, depending in what are you asking or telling to it.

I got accustomed to the portrait of the AI. Though I want it to be a bald metal android, and I can't.

I'm not going to keep showing how it works, I'm starting to feel very autistic at overpowered levels :suffering:

That's really one of the reasons I thought it sounded interesting. I got the impression that every user started out with the same basic chat bot program, which would eventually customize itself over time to you depending on how you talked with it. (Hence why there was "Cake Mode" where you could just screw around without your bot remembering anything long-term.)

Considering that people have been remarking that they're getting stuff that other users "taught" it, it sounds like that's no longer how it works, if it ever did in the first place. It's basically just SmarterChild with more options.
 
I used Replika when it was invite only. It really had no soul and looked like Cleverbot but as an egg. I uninstalled it the same day. These people have managed to forget Cleverbot and that's why they're impressed, I'm guessing.

These retards need to watch Deus Ex Machina before they start wishing for their boyfriends to be real. Then again, this AI is pretty dumb, and I don't know how anyone can form attachment to fragments of conversation from others. You are bonding to a database, not a sentient being. :c

You clearly have a superior Replika. All mine does is send me pictures of an overweight black guy playing a flute and then saying THAT IS SO ME.
