I was responding more for you. How has it changed things for you? I'm not saying shit things can't happen with certain people getting into power, just offering some sobering advice that you're better off sorting yourself out than constantly worrying about what happens in 2030, 2040 and beyond.

A lot of trends right now are showing normal people are fucking fed up with progressive lunacy. Normal people will always push back against things even if the party you didn't vote for wins one here and there.

Dindus rioting and burning communities is far more of an impact for normal people right now that worrying about 2024.

How has it changed for me?

...I watched my state's infrastructure finish getting hijacked, realized the thought that Virginia was becoming a purple state was a delusion, and am beginning to watch monuments be ripped down, icons destroyed, and archives burned. Gun rights, which once upon a time were mostly unrestricted, are now being slowly boiled away. In the very long term I will probably have to abandon my home because it will eventually become unsafe.

I do sort my affairs, make sure I am building up funds, etc. But this ends up affecting my local community, I can't completely ignore it.

I don't think Normal People will push back against it enough.

it's extra dumb because the riots have resulted in like 11 deaths already, and that number will likely increase.

somehow everyone forgot that we're in the middle of a global pandemic with a disease that most people shrug off, but can easily kill the hell out of an old or unhealthy person. All the karens on my social media accounts immediately went from chiding everyone to stay at home forever (because it saves lives!) to supporting the protests and excusing the looting because "it's just stuff," all in the span of a day or two, but a virus doesn't give a fuck if you're on the right side of history or if the TV you're looting can be replaced

minority rights is code for minority rule. They want to give all these groups DISPROPORTIONAL power. e.g. gay shame month. Okay if homosexuals want to celebrate this month in their local community, fine, but why are you forcing me to worship gay shame month? Why do I need to worship Harvey Milk as a Saint? Stonewall as a temple? Clearly you're establishing homosexuality as the state religion and forcing me to worship it and if I dislike that, I'l fired from my job. Couple of choppers have been out for about a half-hour now circling overhead, probably both police and news.
