Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

The Original Trilogy is the best and will always be the best, but as time has gone on, I've taken a new look at the Prequels.

Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones were still bad movies, but you could tell that there was some good concepts within it and Lucas was making the prequels as a true passion project now that he had fully established himself.

Star Wars used to be the powerhouse IP in terms of fandom and financial profitability, but Iger's megalomania-driven buyouts coupled with the creative decisions of people like Filoni, Abrams, Johnson, and Kennedy basically killed it in the long term and any revival of the Stat Wars brand would have to do two things at the bare minimum to make it a profitable powerhouse again.

Honestly, if I were in charge of Disney and was told to make Star Wars a fully viable brand again, I would release the fully uncut original theatrical versions of the original trilogy on DVD, Blu-Ray, and streaming.

This is like the Holy Grail of Star Wars fans and of a lot of casual film geeks in general, since Lucas's efforts to keep them out of print and unavailable are rather infamous, and giving a new release of it would be pretty noteworthy in and of itself

Another thing I'd do to try and rehabilitate the brand and just declare the entirety of the sequel trilogy and everything made during the Bob Iger/Kathleen Kennedy era officially non-canon.

If I did include characters from the sequel trilogy in any future works like Expanded Universe novels or a "reboot" of Episodes VII-IX, I might even throw the fans a new bone and just utterly thrash Rey, Kylo Ren, and Admiral Holdo in a similar way as the sequels did to the Original Trilogy's heroes.

But really, the best choice is just declare them fully non canon and have the series more or less end with Return of the Jedi.

Honestly, I'd be looking towards the fans for new ideas and directions to take the series. Some of the fan content on YouTube is pretty damn good. Just throw the financial power of Disney behind some of these little projects. Fuck, imagine if Star Wars Theory's little Vader fanfilm got turned into a full film made to the visual standards of the sequel abominations. It'd at least be better than the sequels.
Fuck, if I was Disney I would start forking out some of that money to buy the rights to shit like this:
Damn good stuff.

Agreed completely, but releasing the original trilogy's theatrical cuts alongside retconning the Iger-era Disney stuff would be the opening moves to get the fans back on your side so they'll be more likely to give new stuff a proper chance.

I still have never seen The Force Awakens nor the subsequent ones. I doubt I will ever have interest. I cant tell the difference between Rey and Ren.

I have no incentive, no purpose. Why? Because I went through all of it 16 years before... the idea if a "Brand New" Star Wars film coming. I was excited, I bought into the hype. I saw Phantom Menace and loved it.

And all I got was hatred from others.

It left a bad taste in my mouth.

Casual reminder that Padme knew that Anakin had taken a vow of celibacy and yet still wore this to dinner with him.

Palpatine has nothing on dat ass.

You know, after what must have been decades of me being in the The Last of Us threads, wondering to myself why everything I loved growing up is being taken from me slowly but surely...Im back I suppose.

I dont know why (or rather its very obvious why), Star Wars just doesnt appeal to me anymore. OT and PT? Yes, I will watch them but not anymore as like, piece of cinema, but as like "good movies from a more civilized time". See? Disney is ruining the enjoyment of the movies and they obviously gives no shits. There is also the fact that, the more I become frustrated with the brand, the more I start to see its flaws (tho those may come into personal opinion), like, why the hell was Vader allowed to basically go to SW's "heaven" ? And before some virgin tells me that he killed the emperor, thats like saying if you kill Hitler AFTER murdering billions of innocents instantly grants you forgiveness...I mean the dude fucking killed helpless children, you kind of cant recover from that. So countless good characters were pretty much faded from existance after their deaths but the evilest man in the galaxy gains a free pass? Thats a big load and Anakin deserved to burn on SW's hell if there was one for it, killing the emperor in an act of selfishness (and lets face it, it was ultimately selfishness to save his son...since lets face it, Vader is a possessive bastard that barely knows his son, so it wasnt an act of love). Urgh, Im starting to diss my favorite SW movie, holy shit...Guess its what happens when shit like the last Jedi happens, you start to become hollow and filled with apathy in relation to the subject. And its not just with Star Wars, its with Star Trek and Indiana Jones...Im becoming literally incapable of just enjoying what I once did since I keep trying to find flaws and deconstructions (as if Im becoming just like Rian in a sense). Guess I just had to get this out of my chest because holy hell, times nowadays arent being kind to optimism and humanity, period.

Don't forget the awesome video games like Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, KOTOR, Battlefronts 1 and 2, Dark Forces, TIE Fighter, Rogue Squadron, Pod Racer, and Republic Commando.

Honorable mention of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter as well.
Another game that I enjoyed tinkering with was Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds (and the Clone Campaigns expansion pack). It's a shame that a sequel was never made when Revenge of the Sith came out,
And I could go on about Star Wars Galaxies and the hours I invested in that game (I still miss it).

Another aspect was the Star Wars RPG. My friends and I had fun running campaigns. Good times.

If there was anything pre-Disney I wanted to have but never got around to owning, the Thrawn Trilogy was among them. I received two of the books from a relative and they didn't have the "Legends" tag slapped on them. Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky with the third. Oh well. At least I have the book.

Same. The new woke triliogy/cuck wendig EU has made me enjoy the OT/PT less.
The only other time something from later SW efforts dampened my enthusiasm was when AotC showed Vader as a whiny sand-hating emokid.

At least even then there was a POINT to it, Anakin was meant to be an awkward very impulsive older teen, sure it could have been shown better but...it had a point.
The stuff we have today has no point

Not sure about this thread. Much like the Simpson griefing one people did talk about the good pre Disney stuff in star wars. But as I'm not a MOD I leave the fateo of this thread to them.

Anyway I actually got a few of the lucasarts Xbox games over the past few months fee with gold. It's amazing the quality and quantity they produced. You have squad based stratagey/fps with the og (good) battlefront, space combat with Jedi fighter and even a continuation of the story post rotj with Jedi academy

Wookiepedia, Netflix, hell even defunctland and scarhillas productions (a YouTube channel I liked as both a ytp channel and now a review channel) they all tweeted or made Community posts about this bullshit. You ever find yourself just wanting to sever all ties with things you enjoy but are conflicted about doing so? I say to myself it's just chasing a tree for attention, try and ignore them.
