I always thought of it as a satire of the bizarre courtship rituals they had back then. The guy attempting to marry Katherina is portrayed as an abusive and unintelligent gold digger, and the "taming" of Katherina is presented sarcastically. SJWs don't even know how to literature.

Its a shame that the tumblr fans end up turning away people from the show, considering the voice talent is really well done. Most of the VAs have awesome singing voices, they've got characters voiced by Estelle, Sinbad, Nicki Minaj, Susan Egan(she was Meg in Disney's Hercules)....
