I seem to remember Doug first saying he was leaving CG because it was too controversial(which is true) so he could write Earthworm Jim. I didn't see him go on the attack until WarCampaign kept picking their dumbass fights with people. Yes, he said some things that he shouldn't have, but EVS certainly didn't help diffuse matters with shit like claiming Earthworm Jim was anti-gay or crying about not being thanked for helping Bigfoot Bill get funded. And Doug, Mike and the rest of OCG tried to turn Comicsgate into this borderline racist, right leaning movement that excluded the LGBT. Ethan saw that this was guaranteed to lose them money so he tried to put a stop to it and make them see reason. Doug stood by his morals and left, taking Mike and Edwin with him.

Since then, Mike‘s Crowdfunding numbers have never been the same. He went from raising 176 thousand dollars on Monster Hunt to not even being able to raise 10,000 on Bless this Mess. You figure that his good friend Doug would have tried to rally his supporters and the people who backed his projects to come and help Mike out the way Ethan does with other creators.

SMiller fucked himself even more by launching campaign after campaign, while not fulfilling Lonestar 2 and Monster Hunt. People remembered how he joined in on giving Ethan shit for him being late with Bloodhoney and now they are hesitant to back anymore of his projects.

At least now a creator should know what he or she is getting into when they declare themselves CG. And to be honest it’s not too big of a price to pay for a built in fanbase that regularly brings project to funding and beyond. You just have to be a little interesting, be able to take a joke and help out your fellow CG creators by backing their projects and telling people to support them.

Mike hosts a channel showcasing creators live weekly called Drawn and Quarterly where their works are plugged, Doug patronizes creators and youtubers so often that EVS complains that it is a plot to "groom anti-CG to do Doug's bidding" . While I understand what you say is something you genuinely believe as it has been drilled into your mind, just ask yourself, other than Cyberfrog, what is the last CG project that TUG or Ya Boi Zack have publicly backed? I guess "not paying it forward to other creators" can't be the reason then...

And yet I don't see every creator with a late comic being gatekept out of Comicsgate. So I guess "late comics" can't be the reason gatekeepers are in CG either. I do remember people posting similar accusations that Miller engaged fraud and embezzlement regarding "The Meg" and was unable to fulfill it right up until the day it shipped.

And yet Ro Kabir is able to remain an integral part of CG despite publicly posting overtly racist unhinged rants about "purging the degenerates" far more egregious than anything those two ever said. So I guess "homophobia" isn't why gatekeepers exist in CG either.

But at least you agree that CG has gatekeepers. And that Mike Miller has been suitably punished and impoverished because of them. That's a start.

Zack backed Narwahl’s Earthbound and did a review on it which boosted it’s sales and I don’t really keep up with TUG to know what he backs.

Mike was offered several times to be let back into he fold. A lot of CG people liked Mike and wanted him to back, but he reused everytime. So that’s on him.
How late was the Meg? Like a year and some change, of course people are gonna talk. But you‘re right, lateness is not exclusive to Mike.
These late books are the reason why people are afraid to back newer and lesser known creators and these creators are doing themselves and CG a huge disservice by not having a proper plan and talking to others who have gone this process on how to do it right.
