We've all been there. We've all suffered our share of trauma in online gaming.
Maybe you were minding your own business one merry Christmas day in EVE Online and you unexpectedly lost your internet spaceship, and you became a little upset.
Or maybe someone was doing a gimmick in Counterstrike, in a gimmick map, and you got yourself worked up and someone recorded the result.
Or maybe someone knifed you during gun game mode in Call ofDaycare Duty.
It could be any number of things. You're still shaken about it. Sometimes you get flashbacks. PTSD. The emotional pain haunts you for decades.
Today, I'm happy to inform you that you're not alone with those negative thoughts any longer. Behold, the Games and Online Harassment Hotline.
They only launched two days ago. They were planning to take a little bit more time to get everything more fully set up, but an emergency forced their caring hand. The Game Developer Conference was closed due to Corona Aids, so the Hotline got to work immediately, announcing to Twitter that if you are emotionally devastated by GDC's closure, the Hotline is ready to take your call:

They also sell socks. I'll bet they even come programmer-sized.
Some may call this operation a joke, a caricature designed to make fun of the infantility of the modern gamer. But rather, it appears to be a sincere operation, headed by industry leaders. Here's a picture of a few of them, manning a table at PAX East as recently as yesterday:
